Old School To Be Demolished

School Desk

Supporters thought they had 25 days to save a piece of history. But time to save the old Bath School in Beaufort County came to an end Monday night. Bath Town Commissioners met to discuss the future of the school building. In a unanimous vote, they decided to demolish it. Supporters and preservationists were very disappointed. According to town commissioners, if the Beaufort County school system and the commissioners reached an agreement to demolish the building before the 25 days were up from April 25th, then it was okay. Bath Commissioners said their main concern was the safety of residents because of the condition of the school.
No date has been scheduled as of yet for the demolition of the building.
