Several months ago the Vernon Park Mall in Kinston began losing businesses and it seemed as if the mall was in trouble. But now it looks like all of that is about to change. When Proffitt's was bought out by Belks earlier this year, the location at Vernon Park Mall closed down. They also lost three other stores. Mall officials say all those empty spaces are being refilled along with a big chain to take the place of Proffitt's. But the mall says they won't be releasing the name of the new store until May 12, when all the paperwork is final. Approximately 25 to 30 people will be hired. The store is scheduled to open September 15.
