Members of the Washington Fire Department have become some of the first in the state to receive a high honor. Fire officer three certification is the highest level of training available from the North Carolina Department of Insurance for first responders. This month, six members of the department joined four other rescuers from Greensboro as the first to acquire the titles. The voluntary certification is molded after the National Fire Protection Association that trains personnel management and administrative skills.
