Some Special Athletes Hit the Field

It was a day for champions in Eastern Carolina. Over 200 athletes from Beaufort and Hyde Counties showed up to compete in the Special Olympics Friday at Washington High School. The sun was shining down on these Olympians, who competed in events from the long jump, to the 50 yard dash and a baseball toss. Each athlete was awarded a ribbon and will have the opportunity to compete to qualify for the state games held this summer in Raleigh.
