Base Bracing for Expansion

One military hometown in the east is already planning for a big boost to the economy, and population, when the President releases the military's base realignment and closing list next month. Jacksonville and Camp Lejeune's complex of Marine Corps bases could 3,000 more troops, and as many as 6,000 people moving in. That's on top of one of the fastest growth rates for cities in North Carolina. Military communities across America will know more when the proposals are rolled out May 16.
