John McCain has won Florida's Republican primary. McCain narrowly beat Mitt Romney, claiming the state's 57 delegates.
In a brief interview with The Associated Press, McCain calls the
win a "very significant boost" but says he's got "a tough week
ahead and a lot of states to come."
Hillary Rodham Clinton has won Florida's Democratic primary, although no delegates will be awarded.
None of Clinton's presidential rivals campaigned in the state
after the national party stripped Florida of its delegates as
punishment for moving its primary into January.
But coming off a lopsided loss to Barack Obama in last weekend's
South Carolina primary, the New York senator arranged a rally in
the state as the polls were closing -- an evident attempt to gain
campaign momentum. She's pledging to lobby for Florida's delegates
to be seated at the national convention this summer.
