Updated: Wed 7:57 PM, Apr 13, 2005

An awareness campaign is now spreading the word that infant mortality rates are slightly higher in two eastern North Carolina counties. The North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation is reaching out to residents of both Lenoir and Onslow Counties. Some medical experts say the reason behind the higher incident of infant deaths stems from poor, or no prenatal care. The experts also say pregnant women need to eat well and take multivitamins which contain folic acid.
