Volunteers on Topsail Island wanted to return an injured sea turtle to its home. And, in a way, they will. Dare, an endangered Kemp's Ridley Turtle, did not survive its battering in polluted waters after Hurricane Floyd in 1999. Dare died in March, but will return to the sea as part of an artificial reef. A company called Eternal Reefs will combine Dare's cremated remains with concrete that's environmentally-safe. The reef will be placed along the Crystal Coast.
