ECU Professor Examines U.S.-Mexican Border Issues

Video will be available shortly.

Guarding the 2,000 mile border between the United States and Mexico is one of the most dangerous jobs in America. That's what East Carolina University professor Dr. Robert Lee Maril discovered after spending four years riding along and researching what the border patrol agents face on a daily basis. He has written a book titled "Patrolling Chaos -- The U.S. Border Patrol in Deep South Texas." Doctor Maril also gives us some insight on the newly formed "Minuteman Project" which is offering to patrol the under protected border. Dr. Maril says more funding is needed so volunteers won't be needed. Professor Maril says with his book, he wanted to shed light on border issues such as migration, drug smuggling and even terrorism.
