A former New Bern Middle School teacher has been charged with distributing child pornography.
The U.S. District attorney's office in Raleigh says David Alan Knowles, a former baseball and football coach at Grover C. Fields Middle school, has been charged with interstate transportation of child pornography.
The charges were made after weeks of an FBI investigation. Authorities say if Knowles is convicted, he will face no less then five, but no more then 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervised release.
Knowles' arraignment is scheduled for May 2 at the federal courthouse in Greenville.
