Video: Ready to Hit the Beach
Although water temperatures are still too cold for swimming some hardcore beachgoers were soaking up the sun on Atlantic Beach Thursday. Carol Lohr, executive director of the Carteret County Tourism Authority, says Atlantic Beach is ready. Lohr believes this beach season is going to be a successful one, pointing to beach nourishment projects that she says have really helped the beaches stay healthy. This year the summer beach season will be extended by several weeks because students’ summer break has been as well.
