The Pigs Hit the Pits

Spring is here and with it bar-b-que season, especially at the largest whole hog cooking contest in the country.

The 27th Annual Newport Pig Cooking Contest fed thousands on Saturday after the pigs finished cooking. The three day event culminated Saturday with the best part, Eastern Carolina bar-b-que, and nearly 80 whole pigs worth at that. The yearly event brings together around 1000 volunteers to make this charity a event a huge success.

19 different organizations including the Newport Developmental Center will benefit from the money raised over the three day event.
