4-Year-Old Drowns

A tragic story here in eastern Carolina.

A little boy is dead, after he drowned in the waters off Pamlico Beach in Beaufort County. Crews rushed to the scene Thursday afternoon, just before three, after getting a call that 4-year-old Cameron Squires had fallen from a pier.

He was found an hour later in the water. Lawmen say there were signs of life. Cameron was rushed to the hospital, but it was too late, he was pronounced dead. Lawmen say the initial investigation indicates the drowning was an accident.
