Thursday, Doctor Steven Ballard was officially sworn in as the tenth Chief Executive of East Carolina University.
More than 100 delegates from other universities showed up to honor the Chancellor, along with hundreds of others from the university itself and community.
Ballard was appointed over a year ago on March 19, but it became official Thursday morning. Ballard was given his medallion and school mace as a symbolic gesture of leadership, something he hopes to inspire in everyone at ECU.
Lunch was served after the ceremony but Ballard stayed behind to shake hands with all those who wanted to welcome him.
