The body of a man who drowned in a creek off the Neuse River in Craven County Friday afternoon has been found. Emergency crews recovered the body of 46-year-old Linwood West of New Bern around 7 p.m. Friday evening. Divers from the Sidney Dive Team from Beaufort County found West only an hour after arriving. West drowned after family members say he lost his balance and fell in the creek while fishing. Terrance Green says his father was normally a good swimmer, but was suffering from leg and back pain which may have contributed to his drowning.
