Wednesday night, someone attempted to break into the Greenville Sporting Center on Highway 264 by driving a stolen mini-van through the front door, but they were stopped dead in their tracks by some steel poles.
Manager Don Oden says many thieves have tried but have never been able to break into his store! Oden says there are all sorts of deterrents and alarm systems in place.
Investigators from the Pitt County Sheriff's department say the van used for the attempted break in is one of four vehicles recently stolen from a Pitt County car dealership.
