Changes at the Top in City of Washington

There are some changes at the top of the city of Washington, as the long-time mayor steps down to take on a new role. Mayor Stewart Rumley announced his resignation on Monday, but his retirement from five-terms as an elected leader didn't last long. Rumley asked the city council to pick him as interim City Manager, saying he would like to see several important issues through and could fill in until the council picks a new top man. It took just minutes in a closed door meeting for the council to agree, making Rumley the interim manager and selecting council member Mickey Gahagan to succeed Rumley as Mayor, until this fall’s municipal elections.
