It appears a store clerk stopped a robbery with a slap on the hand. Police say the would-be robber entered the Kangaroo Express store on Heritage Street in Kinston, picked up an item and then went to the counter. The clerk, who was on the phone at the time, rang up the transaction opening the drawer. The man then tried to grab some cash, but the clerk pushed his hand away and closed the drawer. The man immediately left the store. The clerk never missed a beat. She continued her phone conversation, grabbed her cell phone and used her other ear to call the police. And if you know who this guy is, Kinston police would like to hear from you to.
