A Craven County community has come forth to put two men behind bars lawmen say are responsible for running an illegal liquor house in a New Bern neighborhood.
Clarence Caldwell was arrested for maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of selling a controlled substance without a license. Lawmen say he operated the liquor house at 2006 Pearson Street in New Bern for months until the city's 12 member special response team and tactical units raided the home around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.
A second man was arrested at the residence. Ivory Whitfeild was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance.
