Revamped Welcome Center For the Banks

The Outer Banks was hit with cold and wet weather this week, but spring is just around the corner, and the weekend warriors are starting to show up.

And now, visitors entering Dare County from the north will have a re-vamped welcome center to meet their vacation needs. The Outer Banks visitors bureau rededicated the welcome center in Kitty Hawk in memory of Aycock Brown. Brown was the first tourism director back in the 1950s, and is credited with bringing the Outer Banks to the rest of the world through his pictures and articles published in newspapers around the globe. With the $150,000 upgrade, visitors can now book performances and day trips from the Aycock Brown Welcome Center on Highway 158.
