Beirut Car Explosion Kills Four, Brings Back Memories For Vets

Four people are dead after a car explosion in Beirut. It happened in Northern Beirut Tuesday morning.

Officials say the attack was on a U.S. Embassy vehicle. They say the explosion came just moments before a scheduled farewell reception for the American ambassador. According to officials, no Americans were hurt in the attack. But, even so, the explosion congers up painful memories for Beirut veterans in our area. In 1983 over 200 American service members were killed during a massive truck bombing at the U.S. Marine barracks at Beirut airport.

The last car bombing in Beirut was on December 12th. Three people were killed.
