It was a violent night in New Bern. Police say one man was shot, while another was attacked by an intruder inside his home.
Police say the shooting happened in the 600 block of Third Avenue.
A man says he was shot by a masked man who demanded money around 10:00 p.m. The victim was shot in the abdominal area.
The man was flown to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Four hours later police got a call of a robbery at a home on Pearson Street. That victim told officers he was awakened by a man in his room who was trying to take a hand gun from his nightstand. The disabled man yelled at the robber, who then hit the victim.
Police say as the robber ran, he pointed the gun at the victim's live-in home nurse.
While the intruder was also wearing a mask, police say at this time they do not believe these two cases are connected.
Anyone with information on either case is asked to call New Bern police at (252) 633-2020.
