West Greenville Community Ready to Fight

The tragic shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in Greenville Sunday night has rallied members of the local clergy, community and law enforcement agency. At a press conference at Phillipi Church of Christ in Greenville Wednesday, dozens of city leaders and concerned citizens met in response to the increasing street violence on the West side of Greenville. According to police records over the last year, four people have been murdered and history shows that more than half of homicides across Pitt County go unsolved. Law enforcement officials say they can't police every single block every second and they need the community to keep their eyes open and speak out when crime strikes. Many citizens are in support of the new efforts. The 13-year-old boy gunned down died Sunday night after witnesses say a man on a bike fired shot's at the child and a 21-year-old man as they sat on the porch.
