A weekend fire that heavily damaged a Dare County church was deliberately set. Officials say it was an arsonist who set fire to the Church of God of Prophecy in Manteo Friday night. The hunt for this firebug has the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and the Dare County Sheriff's department working together. The building still stands, but has approximately $100,000 in damage. Area churches are reaching out to the congregation, offering a place for them to worship.
