National Sunshine Week

It's National Sunshine Week, but you won't find any plants or flowers.
The first ever Sunshine Week is a nationwide initiative by several media outlets and public representatives to promote an open, accessible government. One of the most visible signs of a government's accessibility is public records. Under North Carolina law, anyone can copy most state and local government records. But that wasn't always the case. Many public records in Pitt County, for instance, are now available online. You can find tax records, restaurant ratings and foreclosures on the county's Web site.
