There's another sign that Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory is ready to run for governor.
Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes said McCrory told him yesterday that he would make an announcement Tuesday afternoon at the public library in Jamestown, where McCrory grew up.
Barnes said he wasn't told what the announcement would be. But the news comes one day after it was made public that the seven-term Republican mayor had filed with the state paperwork needed to raise campaign money for the governor's race.
McCrory declined to comment yesterday, referring to a statement he issued Wednesday that said he would make an announcement within the next week.
Three Republicans already are seeking the nomination.
