Prescription Drug Abuse On The Rise

And a new report shows prescription drug abuse among teens is on the rise in the U.S. This is according to the Partnership for a Drug Free America.

Multiple arrests in the area suggest it's a growing problem in Eastern Carolina. Medical professionals say they monitor their patients to see if they're using prescriptions correctly.

Methods such as pill counting and urine screenings are used by some doctors to ensure that medications are being used correctly. Pain specialist doctor Angelo Tellis says despite a few bad apples most people follow their doctor's instructions .

Another easily abused drug according to a pharmacist we talked to is cough syrup because of it's easy accessibility.
