Good news for those who travel Highway 17 in Eastern Carolina. The North Carolina Board of Transportation will four-lane more of the heavily traveled highway.
The board okayed a $12.9 million contract today to widen just over four miles of U.S. 17 south of Chocowinity.
Roberson Contracting of Williamson is scheduled to begin work as soon as February 4th, with completion expected by Spetember 2010.
The DOT says during construction traffic on the highway will be maintained.
