Preparing for the Worst

Monday marked the start of severe weather awareness week.

Emergency management officials say the month of March begins the spring tornado season, which then leads into hurricane season followed by the fall tornado season.

Officials say it's a good idea to have a home safety plan, including which room to go to during emergencies, and to have proper supplies.

Craven County Emergency Management and others say they plan to supervise several schools this week as they practice tornado drills as part of severe weather awareness week.
