The town of Oriental in Pamlico County has a new police chief. Town commissioners have named 49 year old Jeffrey Casassa of New Bern from 20 applicants for the position. Casassa tells WITN he has more than 14 years experience in law enforcement. This change of power comes after town officials asked former chief Bobby Byrum to relinquish his position 2 and a half months ago.
