Commissioners Look At Removing Spanish Option On County Phones

By  |

A pair of Beaufort County commissioners are trying to get Spanish language options removed from county telephone systems.

Commissioners Hood Richardson and Stan Deatherage said Monday night that leaving these options available gives incentives to people to come to this country illegally. The board is scheduled to meet in a week with an attorney to decide whether law mandates that these options be available.

County offices include the health department, tax offices, and the sheriff's department.
