A Currituck County band director quit his job, just a day before he was arrested on sex charges involving a student.
Allan Coyle was charged Friday with six counts of sex offense with a student and six counts of indecent liberties with a student. Deputies say Coyle quit his job as band director at Currituck County High School on Thursday.
Deputies say the investigation began after parents of a 17 year old girl brought the allegations to their attention.
A school website says Coyle was an ECU graduate and had taught at Currituck for the past five years.
The 32 year old Coyle of Moyock posted a $240,000 bond Saturday morning.

I just want everyone to know that this crime has been swept under the rug and nothing has been done. What Coyle did is a crime and he should be punished. Something should also be done at the school for allowing it to happen. Even the press has given Coyle a pass! It's a dark day in Currituck.
