Black tar heroin, normally found in Mexico, has made it's way into rural parts of Eastern Carolina.
Tyrrell County deputies, with help from Beaufort County, arrested a Columbia man for trafficking in heroin. Santiago Medina was arrested Friday night. Deputies say they found 20 grams of black tar heroin, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia on Medina when he was arrested. Authorities also seized a 1997 GMC pickup truck.
Medina is in the Dare County jail under a million dollar bond.
