The N.C. Division of Forest Resources wants to inform landowners who wish to plant trees that it may still be possible despite the state's significant drought conditions.
North Carolina's diverse soils and micro-climates mean that landowners and forestry professionals must take into consideration a number of factors before planting trees.
Some of those factors include the current and expected soil moisture conditions, winter weather patterns and historical tree-planting survival records. Site-by-site determinations will be necessary when deciding whether to plant.
