A Look at Damage in Pitt County

Tuesday's storm took a toll on Pitt County. Almost the entire roof of the old Keel Warehouse off Dickinson Avenue in Greenville was ripped off and thrown on neighboring houses. The damage was reminiscent of a hurricane, with debris scattered everywhere along the roadways. Public works crews are handling the cleanup. Luckily, no one was injured. And the storms didn't spare the campus of East Carolina University. The founder's day celebration was canceled because of the weather, and for good reason. A giant tree smashed into two cars and a sorority property. No one was hurt. In Winterville utility crews were scrambling when a tree fell on power lines and a transformer exploded knocking out power to nearly the entire 200 customers in the Devonshire neighborhood. Crews also had minor power outages in other areas as well.
