Storm Brings Back Bad Memories

Tuesday's high winds caught some folks in Duplin County out in the open. But many there heeded warnings, mindful of another far stronger storm that blew parts of their county apart 21 years ago this month.

The latest storms hit not too far away from the same track other storms took in March of 1984, which devastated places along the Duplin and Wayne County line. Tuesday, the damage was quite a sight for folks around northern Duplin County. Much of the debris came from tobacco barns and tool sheds literally ripped off their foundations and tossed across fields. Luckily, no injuries were reported.

The massive tornados that came in late March, 1984 killed and injured many.
