It's a Go!

Jacksonville wants more land, and a new developer to team up for a major downtown project.

Tuesday night, the city council gave staffers the OK to try to get more property at the site where they want to put a conference center, hotel and the Marine Corps Museum of the Carolinas.

There's just not enough land at the former Onslow Inn site to do everything the city and planners envision for the $50 million project. But nearby property might help things fit and even change the look of roads and businesses along Highway 17 when that project gets underway.

The city council is also looking for a new master developer for the project.
