Local Fisherman Say Sink Saltwater Fishing License

They had quite a fishing tale to tell Tuesday night on the Outer Banks.

Lawmakers listened for two hours as hundreds of commercial fisherman and head boat captains told them the saltwater fishing license would hurt the tourist industry and they should sink the law altogether. It sets up a board of primarily recreational fisherman who decide what to do the revenues, and one of the options is the revenues could go to specific non profit groups that have agendas and some of those agendas are against commercial fishermen. That's a very big bone of contention.

If it goes into effect next January, the license would cost anyone fishing in North Carolina's salt waters anywhere from a couple of dollars to upward estimates of $30 for a one time use or an annual license.
