Hope Blooms From Disaster

It's not on the front page anymore, but thousands are still struggling to recover from the tsunami's devastation. One local doctor, who was there to help, brings back some promising news. We first brought you the story of Dr. Thomas Kerkering a physician and instructor with the Brody School of Medicine in January. Dr. Kerkering was on his way to aid victims in Banda Aceh, one of the area's hit hardest by the disaster. He has recently returned to the states and shared his surprisingly positive story. The Indonesian government is rebuilding and people over there are slowly putting their lives back together, two big signs of hope. Dr. Kerkering says he'd love to go back and help, but for the most part the Indonesians have the reconstruction and health concerns under control.
