Will It Work?

Jacksonville's $50 million conference center, hotel, and Marine museum project has hit a critical turning point.

Tuesday night, backers of the Marine Corps Museum of the Carolinas told Jacksonville's city council they may have to find another site for that $16 million project.

The city would like to see it located near their proposed conference center and hotel complex, a package that could pump more than $50 million into the downtown there. The city now owns the old Onslow Inn and will have it torn down by this summer.
