Breaking Ground on New Business

After nearly three years of gathering permits and public discussion, a landmark business finally broke ground Wednesday in Hyde County. Rose Acre Farms out of Indiana will open its first North Carolina Egg Farm in Hyde County, and construction started Wednesday.

The 125 acre site should take around three more years to complete, but folks say it's worth the wait. It represents a 55,000,000 investment and the area will receive about 1,300,000,000 in economic activity over the next 15 years, 120 jobs and a lot of spinoff business.

The farm will help local corn farmers by buying their crops for chicken food, and the chicken waste will also help the fertilizer business for the farmers.
