Navy Wins OLF Appeal

The Navy won an appeal against a temporary injunction stopping it from purchasing more land for an outlying landing field in Washington County.

The Fourth Circuit Court was scheduled to hear the Navy's appeal on February 5. Late Monday afternoon, the appellate court issued a ruling granting the motion which now allows the Navy to continue purchasing land unless a judge rules for a permanent injunction, which could happen as early as January 19.

Lawyers representing Washington and Beaufort counties say if that happens, the Navy will most like file another motion to appeal.
