The "Log a Load for Kids" program was recognized Tuesday for its dedication to helping sick children.

To help recognize the efforts of this organization, State Sen. Marc Basnight, hospital officials and families were on hand as the 2005 "Log a Load for Kids" campaign kicked off at the University Health System's of Eastern Carolina's Children's Hospital.

Since the program began in 1992, loggers from across Eastern Carolina have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Children's Miracle Network to help sick children in our area.

Those loggers were honored Tuesday by naming the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital after the Log a Load program.
