Friday night around 5:45 p.m. the Cooperative Bank in Belhaven was robbed.
Employees reported that a man walked in and demanded money from the tellers, then fled the bank on foot. Officers then noticed the subject a block away from the bank minutes after the robbery occured. The suspect was identified as Ben Cox the Third of Belhaven. Cox has since been charged with armed robbery and is currently at the Beaufort County Jail under a 40,000 dollar bond.
