It's sort of an honor at local hospitals to be the first baby born on the new year, and Pitt County Memorial Hospital is no exception.
And that honor goes to Norman Spencer Cartright, who was born around 1:50 Saturday morning, beating another little baby who came out two hours later to win the honor of first baby of the new year. Spencer's parents Jomie and Brady Cartright, were ecstatic when this baby boy came into the world. He is their first child, and they were just happy he came out healthy.
Norman Spencer Cartright came out 4 weeks early, but still weighed in at seven pounds, 11 ounces.
