Expansive Search Turns Up Nothing

Cadaver dogs picked up a scent in a pond off Highway 55 in Lenoir County, as rescue officials continued their search for Gail Haddock-Dail and her 15-year-old granddaughter Heather Roberts. But unfortunately that search turned up empty.

After checking the area with sonar equipment, the Sidney Dive Team from Beaufort County was called to go down and take a look. After searching two areas of the pond for about three hours, rescue officials said the pond was clear and say they have no plans to search it again.

The Kinston Department of Public Safety says for now, no further searches are scheduled. Officials will meet Monday morning to decide where to go from here.
