Road Expansion Gets the Green Light

After more than a year in mediation talks, both sides have come to an agreement over the Firetower Road expansion project in Greenville.

Additional traffic signals, turn lanes, and medians in the four lane road were just some of the conditions the Albritton Company of Greenville, city residents, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation agreed upon. The Albritton Company filed a lawsuit in 2002 against the Department of Transportation arguing that the project would hurt business and cause safety issues, but now the project can move forward.

It’s still not yet known just when construction on the Firetower Road expansion project will begin.
