American Red Cross Needs Your Help

Blood banks are running dry and pockets are shriveling up according to officials with the American Red Cross in Lenoir County.

In an off camera interview with WITN, Red Cross workers for the Lenoir County chapter say despite the season of giving, monetary donations haven't been enough to keep the chapter at a safe level this holiday season. The Red Cross not only is on an emergency level appeal for o-negative blood and restricted level appeals for b-negative blood, but their disaster response fundraising efforts to end out the year have only been at about 50 percent of their projected goal.

To make a blood donation in the east call your local Red Cross chapter.
