A possible hunting accident could be the cause of death for a 50-year-old Onslow County woman who died Friday morning. The shooting occurred at 358 Swinson Road in Jacksonville where sheriff's officials say a man was said to have accidentally shot his wife in the head just before 11:00. The victim's name has not yet been released. But, Sheriff Ed Brown says she is the mother-in-law of one of his deputies. Because of that, the case has been turned over to the State Bureau of Investigation. Witnesses say the gun went off Friday morning while the victims husband attempted to lay it down in his truck.
