An Onslow County deputy is on the other side of the law after being arrested for drug trafficking. It's the second sheriff's employee this month to be arrested on drug charges. Onslow Sheriff Ed Brown says the State Bureau of Investigation arrested 44 year old Luis Alers, a three year veteran deputy on Monday. The S.B.I. seized more than 4 pounds of marijuana and 660 doses of the drug ecstacy in that investigation. Alers was charged with drug trafficking and jailed under a million-dollar bond. An Onslow County jailer was arrested earlier this month in a marijuana case unrelated to Deputy Alers' arrest.
